Dr. M. Sheerin Banu has been serving as Professor and Head of the Department of
Information Technology at R.M.K. Engineering College since July 2019, bringing with
her 29 years of rich teaching experience. She holds a B.E. from Madurai Kamaraj
University, an M.Tech. from Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, and a Ph.D. from
Mother Teresa Women’s University.
She previously held the position of Professor in the Department of Computer Science
and Engineering at R.M.D. Engineering College and also served as Professor and Head
of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Sethu Institute of
Technology.
Her research interests span Image Processing, Mobile Computing, Data Analytics, Data
Science, and Machine Learning. Since 2016, she has led the Big Data Analytics Centre
of Excellence and has trained over 150 students in Data Science. She is also a
Licensed Professor under the Qlik Academic Program.
Dr. Sheerin Banu has organized numerous national and international conferences,
seminars, workshops, and faculty development programs. She has mentored several
undergraduate and postgraduate student projects and has published 35 research
papers in reputed journals and conferences. She actively contributes as a reviewer for
various esteemed journals.
She is a life member of the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), and a
member of both the Institution of Engineers (India) (IEI) and the Institute of Electrical
and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). Additionally, she is the founder of the startup Famics.
