R.M.K. Engineering College Inaugurates IEEE Biometrics Council Chapter (Sponsored by IEEE Biometrics Council)
On September 8th, the Electronics and Communication Engineering department of R.M.K. Engineering College proudly inaugurated its new IEEE Biometrics Council chapter. The newly formed student chapter is led by Kishore B, a final year ECE student who will serve as the chairman. Dr. Subha T.D., Assistant Professor in the ECE department, will provide guidance and support as the faculty coordinator.

Mission
The IEEE Biometrics Council at R.M.K. Engineering College is a dedicated student chapter focused on the science and technology of biometrics. We offer a dynamic environment for students to explore the principles and applications of biometrics through workshops, seminars, and projects.This chapter aims to foster a deep understanding of biometric technologies among students and faculty, promoting research, innovation, and educational activities in this rapidly evolving field.
Our goal is to be a hub for learning and innovation in biometrics, preparing students to become leaders in this critical area of technology.
Events
An International Workshop on “AI-Integrated IoT & Biometrics for Smart Society,” sponsored by the IEEE Biometrics Council, was hosted by R.M.K. Engineering College’s Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering. The two-day event, held on September 8th and 9th, 2025, focused on the transformative role of IoT and biometrics in building intelligent societies. The workshop featured guest lectures and hands-on sessions on topics like cybersecurity, AI in healthcare, and emerging technologies. It also marked the inauguration of six new IEEE chapters at the college, aiming to provide students with a platform for professional growth, research, and global collaboration. The event concluded with a certificate distribution and a group photo, celebrating a successful knowledge-sharing platform.
