National Board of Accreditation (NBA) is an autonomous body, set up by the Government of India, with the objective of Assurance of Quality and Relevance of Education, especially of the programmes in professional and technical disciplines, i.e., Engineering and Technology, Management, Architecture, Pharmacy and Hospitality, through the mechanism of accreditation of programs offered by technical institutions.
NBA has introduced a new process, parameters and criteria for accreditation called Outcome Based Accreditation (OBA). These are in line with the best international practices and oriented to assess the outcomes of the programme. NBA has established 24 Nodal Centers across India to impart Training on Outcome Based Accreditations to the faculty members of the engineering institutions.
R.M.K. Engineering College is one of such NBA Nodal Centres. After its establishment in 2013, 3 Training Programs have been conducted for the faculty members of engineering colleges in Tamilnadu as follows :
- Training Program 1 : April 29, 2013 (Phase I) and May 24-26, 2013 (Phase II)
- Training Program 2 : September 13, 2013 (Phase I) and September 26-28, 2013 (Phase II)
- Training Program 3 : February 3, 2014 (Phase I) and March 14-16, 2014 (Phase II)
All the HODs and Professors in R.M.K. Engineering College have been trained in Outcome Based Accreditation in the above Training Programs. The Departments in the College have defined the Vision, Mission, Program Educational Objectives (PEO) and Program Outcomes (PO) based on the above principles and they are aligning their Programs based on Outcome Based Education (OBE) process.
Four Programs namely B.E.(CSE), B.E.(ECE), B.E.(EIE) and B.Tech.(IT) have been accredited by NBA based on the above Outcome Based Accreditation (OBA) method.
